Now that most of our houses are full of humidity, we don’t need to worry about crazy static hair, right?

Well if you are out at the park, you know that the slides can cause ‘crazy hair’ as we call it.

How do you get rid of this unmanageable hair? Just a bit of conditioner will do the trick.

I don’t know about you, but I figured littleBee1 didn’t need conditioner in her hair yet, she’s only 4 years old.

But since we added conditioner to our bath routine, the static is virtually gone. Of course we still get a little crazy hair going down the slide, but that makes the slide even more fun!

As if parenthood isn’t difficult enough, we have to constantly hear about products that are being recalled because they aren’t safe. I’ve been lucky and have only had 2 items recalled, that I know of! One most recently is the Bob Revolution single and duallie stroller. The defect isn’t major, in my opinion, and no one was hurt, but the company saw a potential risk and decided to alert the public.

In my opinion, some of these recalls are due to the fact that parents aren’t watching their children, which makes me very sad for the parents, child and company that has to spend thousands and even millions to pull or repair a product. My position on all these recalls is that it is still my job to keep my children safe, but it would also be nice to have companies make sure there aren’t any chemicals or defects in that toy or child’s product that may hurt them. I’m not jumping on the band-wagon that hot coffee needs to be marked “hot”, if you know what I mean.

In BOB’s defense, the fix is minimal and I do not feel any less about the BOB stroller, in fact, I know that they are looking out for me and my child and it makes me feel better that I’ve purchased their strollers. Besides, I absolutely love the strollers and would probably be very upset if I had to give them up.

With so many recalls almost daily, how do you keep track of what products are on the recall list and how do you know when one that you own has been recalled?

The U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission lists all the products that have been, and are being recalled. What a pain to have to check the website weekly to see if something you own has been recalled… well, you don’t have too. You just visit  http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html, scroll to the bottom of the page and pick the category you want to receive e-mail notifications on. I signed up for:

• Child products
• Toys
• Household products

Now you just have to open those e-mail to see if the product you own are on the recall. It’s also nice because they will include a link to a picture of the product.

YEAH…. IT’s a SNOW DAY!  The weather crew in Chicago was right, we got snow, and a whole bunch! I think we got 15 plus inches and the blowing has created huge drifts of snow. It was so windy last night that the windows howled, the flag pole rattled and the house was filled with a cool breeze.

littleBee1 is 4 years old. Her favorite TV shows for the past few months have been Max & Ruby, Curious George, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Olivia and Caillou. All innocent shows with lessons to be learned, and yes, as you can see I allow her to watch TV, even though it isn’t recommended for her age. Life happens and when you have 3 babies to look after, and even when you don’t, either way TV can really help you get things done around the house. 

Recently she was introduced to Scooby Doo. I’m not sure how, or who introduced her to the show, but she was on a bit of a Scooby Doo kick for a few weeks before it happened…. Nightmares… Scary Dreams….Monsters! She woke up in the middle of the night, got out of bed and woke us up because she was scared. It was out of the blue, but the monsters even showed up in her drawings & paintings. Not that I could tell they were monsters, but she was sure to tell me that the big green blog was a monster.

I told her that monsters are make-believe/pretend, because that is what you’re supposed to say… right?

Well she still got out of bed, scared, for the next few nights. Finally I figured out the connection, and banned Scooby Doo, but the damage has already been done. If you’re not familiar with Scooby Doo, it’s a show about 4 adults and a dog (Scooby) that solve mysteries about ghosts, zombies, mummies and all things scary.

I had red or seen something about giving your child a flashlight, and when they get scared, they can shine the light around the room and see that there aren’t any monsters. After going through way too many batteries…. I purchased a manualflashlight, you know the kind that they have to squeeze a lever to get the flashlight to work. She doesn’t get out of bed every night now, but on occasion wonders into our room telling us she’s scared.

Scary dreams/Nightmare are such a difficult concept to explain to a child. You want to be able to say that they are make-believe, or just pretend, but I know that a 4 year old doesn’t understand. Being woke by a child and having to get out of bed to tuck them in and explain that monsters aren’t real isn’t an easy thing to do at 2:30 in the morning, and I can’t help but think about the triplets getting that age and having to wrangle 3 children all night. One wakes up at 11:30pm, then the next at 1:00am, and the 3rd at 4:00am. UGH!

After asking my 4 year old the same question 3x this morning she finally answered me by saying… “Make up your mind, look online, boom it’s gone, boom it’s gone.”

“Are they natural?”    — What does that even mean?

“I know this is a personal question, but did you use IVF?”   –I’m sorry, do I know you?

“Are they identical?”   — No, one has a penis!

You know those little lies to get you through the day, or just to get them to do something?

When my daughter was potty training she would wear a ‘sleepy’ diaper to bed/nap.  Everyday I fought with her to take the sleepy diaper off and put her underware on. Finally I started to tell her that it was against the law to wear a sleepy diaper when you are awake and if she didn’t get it off NOW, the police would show up. She actually looked out the window to see if the police where here and off came the diaper!

It really stinks that once you’re a mom, you don’t get to be sick. And there really isn’t anyone to take care of you. Hmmmmmmmmm…….
